History of the company

1950 – 1959 years

The architectural ensemble of Freedom Square is one of the main attractions of the first capital of Ukraine. Nowadays, it is largely determined by the buildings that were built by “Zhytlobud-2” during these years: the House of Councils (regional state administration), the House of Trusts (the “PrombudNDIproekt” institute), the “Hiprokoks” institute.

In 1952, the building of one of the most prestigious universities of the city – KHIRE (today – Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics) was built.

In the post-war years, the lack of housing was acutely felt. People had to be relocated from barracks and basements. Gradually, “Zhytlobud-2” began to build residential facilities. One of them is “House with a Spire” – a residential building with a height of 7-11 floors. The building is made in the “Stalin Empire” style, is located in the city center on Constitution Square, 2/2 and occupies an entire block.

The house with a spire is one of the Seven Wonders of Kharkiv, along with the Annunciation, Pokrovsky, Assumption Cathedrals, Derzhprom, the Shevchenko monument, and the Mirror Stream fountain.
